Dr. Jairaj’s Diagnostic Centre

Dr. Jairaj’s Diagnostic Centre is a centre for excellence born out of the yearning desire of two pathologists to offer the best in diagnostic facilities for the citizens of Navi Mumbai. The centre was started in 2003 with the support of Dr.R.R. Jairaj and Dr. Seethalakshmi Jairaj, two stalwarts of the medical community in Navi Mumbai.

Our Team:

The founding team of Dr. Rajiv J. Rao and Dr. Smita R. Rao, both pathologists from Grant Medical College and J.J. Hospital have worked tirelessly to develop the diagnostic centre. They are ably assisted by their team of radiologists, sonologists, cardiologists as well as specialists from other branches of medicine.

Our Facilities:

C.B.D Belapur:

Located at the focal point of CBD Belapur right next to the bus depot, in close proximity to the business district is our CBD facility. Spread over a thousand square feet, the centre provides for Pathological Investigations, X-Ray facilities, Sonographies, ECG and Stress Tests as well as a polyclinic manned by dedicated specialists from all fields of medicine.

Kharghar:

Our success in C.B.D. Belapur and the repeated requests by residents of Kharghar for quality medical care led us to open our second centre in this bustling suburb. This 3500 sqft state of the art facility has a Pathology Laboratory, Digital X-Ray, ECG, Sonography as well as a Dental Clinic, a Nutrition Clinic and a Physiotherapy Clinic. Also part of this facility is a team of over 25 medical practitioners from all fields of medicine including Homeopathy and Ayurveda.

Our Accomplishments:

We have a series of firsts to our credit. We are the first integrated diagnostic centre in Kharghar and CBD to be ISO 9001:2008 certified. We are the first and only pathology laboratory to offer the gold standard in malaria testing – Fluoroscent Microscopy. We are the only independent laboratory to have a fully automated biochemistry analyzer as well as an automated random access hormone analyzer. Adding to this list is the fact that we are the first diagnostic centre in Kharghar to offer digital xray facility for our patients. We are now NABL (ISO 15189:2007, specific for Medical Testing Laboratories) accredited, the only laboratory in Navi Mumbai to have two labs with this accreditation.

Our Technology:

The list of equipment in our centre reflects our passion for quality. Our haematology analyzer is a 5 part cell counter from Beckman Coulter, the pioneers and inventors of the cell counter. Our biochemistry analyzer is Selectra E from Merck which is a walk away, random access system with a through put of more than 150 tests per hour. Our hormone analyzer is from TOSOH, Japan, a company with a yen for quality, and is again a random access analyzer with a first report out capability of only 20 minutes. Our fluorescent microscopy system is from BD, USA and is the only one of it’s kind for malaria and TB testing in Kharghar and Belapur. In fact, the malaria testing is the most sensitive and specific test for the diagnosis of malaria in the world. In addition to this equipment, we also have Nycocard reader for glycosylated haemoglobin testing, electrolyte analyzer from Elite USA, semiautomated biochemistry analyzers from Merck and Biosystems as well as urine chemistry analyzers from Siemens.
We have recently acquired Neo-eldex Elisa reader which will help us perform various infectious parameters like Dengue and Leptospira as well as nutritional parameters like Vitamin D3 and B12 in house. Soon, we will be starting electrophoresis, automated microbiology and allergy testing, all being firsts in Kharghar and CBD.

Our Quality:

We understand that you can have the best of equipment yet deliver the worst of reports, if there are no quality processes involved. To this end, we have gone for ISO 9001:2008 certification and NABL (ISO 15189:2007) accreditation and maintain all quality processes. We also have gone for dedicated External Quality Assessment Schemes which assures a third party assessment of our quality infrastructure. To further strengthen our quality and to reduce pre and post analytical errors, we have gone for a modern Laboratory Information System which gives us automated sample number generation, automatic transfer of ready results from all instruments to the LIS as well as an audit trail. We also realize that the other most critical component of this infrastructure is our staff. We have dedicated corporate as well as technical training programmes on a continuous basis to make sure that our staff develop both soft skills as well as gain technical knowledge.
